Major clear-out at OM: O’Riley and Gomes are out, it’s now official. The Marseille club is trimming its squad in the final minutes of the transfer window.
OM recruited smartly, and is also offloading players smartly. Matt O’Riley, loaned without a purchase option by Brighton last summer, is already heading out this winter. Too quiet and not decisive enough, the Danish midfielder failed to convince and returns to England after a disappointing half-season.
Marseille Reshapes Its Midfield Options
Angel Gomes is also leaving. Signed on a free transfer, the English player did not manage to establish himself in the squad. He is loaned to Wolverhampton for €1 million, with a €7 million purchase option.
Marseille is cutting things short and cleaning up its midfield during this transfer window.
