It’s official: Antoine Kombouaré is the new head coach of Paris FC! The capital club has made its decision following disappointing results and performances deemed insufficient. Stéphane Gilli is stepping down from the bench.
Shockwaves at Paris FC: Kombouaré arrives! Stéphane Gilli was dismissed as the club appears to be slowly but surely heading toward Ligue 2, despite Paris FC’s ambitions of qualifying for Europe. President Pierre Ferracci paid tribute to his former coach: “Stéphane Gilli will remain in the memory of everyone who loves this club, the man who helped it return to Ligue 1 nearly half a century after leaving it. Exceptional professionalism, relentless hard work, loyalty and kindness appreciated by all marked his time at the club.”
A New Chapter Begins at Paris FC
Just minutes after Gilli’s departure, the club officially announced his successor. “Paris FC is opening a new chapter by entrusting its first team to Antoine Kombouaré, who will take up his duties starting Monday, February 23, 2026.”
The contract runs until June, with an additional year in case the club avoids relegation. The objective is clear: save the team, currently 15th in Ligue 1. Without a club since leaving FC Nantes in May, the Kanak coach had not planned to return mid-season. He was considering opportunities in England or with a national team. But Paris FC’s ambitious project convinced him.
The club’s leadership is delighted. Antoine Arnault welcomed the arrival of a “well-known figure in the football world whose experience will allow us to continue the development of Paris FC.” Sporting director Marco Neppe shared the enthusiasm: “His career and solid Ligue 1 experience will be valuable assets in achieving the results we aim for. He shares our values of commitment and high standards. We are convinced he has all the qualities needed to guide the team toward its objectives.” The survival mission is underway. Kombouaré is back in the capital—but not at PSG.
