Bradley Barcola could be moving closer to a departure from Paris Saint-Germain, but the deal is still far from complete. The French winger is reportedly interested in joining Liverpool and testing himself in the Premier League. However, talk of a genuine agreement with the Reds still appears premature.
The Bradley Barcola situation has become one of the biggest surprises of the summer transfer window. The 23-year-old has reportedly indicated that he is open to leaving PSG and has held several discussions with Liverpool representatives, as well as the English club’s new manager, Andoni Iraola. Those talks have confirmed a mutual interest, with L’Équipe claiming that Barcola has given his approval in principle.
Barcola Gives Liverpool the Green Light
That does not mean a final contractual agreement has already been reached. At this stage, Barcola has mainly given the green light for negotiations to continue. Liverpool have also contacted Paris Saint-Germain. The French champions are reportedly no longer completely opposed to a transfer, but the two clubs remain far apart over the player’s valuation.
According to L’Équipe, Barcola wants the discussions to progress quickly. PSG nevertheless remain in a strong position, as the former Lyon player is under contract until June 2028. Paris are therefore under no obligation to sell and have no intention of allowing the forward to leave for less than their asking price.
The situation comes as Barcola has reportedly decided not to extend his PSG contract. The France international is also said to have been unhappy with his substitute role in the last two Champions League finals and no longer wants to settle for being the team’s 12th man. Liverpool have made him one of their main attacking priorities, but PSG could demand close to €170 million. No contract has been signed and no financial agreement exists between the clubs, meaning a transfer remains possible but highly uncertain.
