Real Madrid defeated again, but the locker room backs Xabi Alonso

Beaten 1–2 by Manchester City and already defeated at the Bernabéu last weekend, Real Madrid is going through a turbulent period. While the Spanish press claimed that Xabi Alonso was coaching for his job in case of another setback, his future ultimately did not waver tonight.

A new defeat for Real Madrid, but the locker room stands firmly behind Xabi Alonso. After the match, every player who spoke in the mixed zone expressed total support for their coach. Raul Asencio stated that “the locker room supports Xabi 100%,” while Rodrygo reminded everyone that he too was “going through a difficult moment” and that the team needed to show unity.

Players publicly reaffirm their support amid mounting pressure

Thibaut Courtois insisted: “We are 100% behind the coach,” despite criticism and dropped points. Even Jude Bellingham, visibly frustrated on the pitch, defended his manager: “100%. The coach has been fantastic. No one is giving up; we keep fighting.”

Despite the brewing crisis, internal signals are clear: Xabi Alonso retains the support of his squad and should not be dismissed. Asked about his future, he brushed the question aside: “That’s not my problem. I’m thinking about the next match.” Barring a huge surprise, he will indeed be on the bench against Alavés this weekend.

Even though names are already circulating as possible replacements—such as Jurgen Klopp or Raul—they remain only speculation for now.
