Real Madrid are already planning ahead. After snapping up stars like Mbappé, Rüdiger, and Alaba on free transfers, the club is now targeting Ibrahima Konaté—out of contract in 2026—and William Pacho, PSG’s promising Ecuadorian defender.
Konaté, top priority for 2026
According to Marca, Konaté has become the number one target for Florentino Pérez. With his contract at Liverpool running down, the 24-year-old—valued at €60 million—is at risk of leaving on a free if no extension is signed. After already losing Trent Alexander-Arnold to Madrid, Liverpool are on high alert.
Madrid’s strategy is clear: top quality for zero fee. Konaté is seen as the perfect long-term partner for Dean Huijsen in defense. The club is also monitoring Myles Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal) and Cristhian Mosquera (Valencia).
Luis Enrique shuts down Pacho rumours
But the Pacho rumor didn’t go down well in Paris. When asked about Madrid’s alleged interest in William Pacho, Luis Enrique didn’t mince words: “It’s normal that everyone wants our players. But it’s hard to get someone out of PSG,” he told DSports.
Pacho, 22, has impressed since joining the club with his aggressive defending and pace—traits Madrid admire. But Enrique made it clear: Pacho is not for sale. Especially not to a European rival.
With the Club World Cup and future ambitions in mind, PSG are locking down their talents—and Luis Enrique isn’t budging.
