Tensions between French and Argentine players are still simmering—years after the 2022 World Cup final. This time, it’s Paulo Dybala who’s throwing shade at French midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi.
Speaking on Sergio Agüero’s podcast La Casa del Kun, the AS Roma forward didn’t hold back: “That Frenchman talks too much. He really annoys the younger guys, always provoking them,” Dybala said, referring to heated Roman derbies between Roma and Lazio.
He even shared an example: “He was telling the youngsters, ‘I’ll buy you a plane ticket, go home.’” The jab seemed aimed at young Argentinians in Serie A, like Matías Soulé.
World Cup shin guard moment
Dybala went further, revealing a personal revenge moment during a match: “He made me angry, so I went after him. Then I remembered my shin guard—there’s a photo of the World Cup on it. I showed it to him. He didn’t say a word after that.”
The feud is on. Now we wait to see if Guendouzi will clap back. One thing’s for sure: the next Rome derby is already heating up.
