Real Madrid are sinking deeper into a season to forget. With no major trophies in sight, the Madrid club is heading toward the end of a highly disappointing campaign. On the bench, Alvaro Arbeloa is under increasing pressure, and a departure at the end of the season now seems inevitable.
Who will be the next Real Madrid coach? One thing is certain: it will be a high-profile name—but who? Internally, the succession process is already underway, and one candidate is clearly emerging as the frontrunner. According to Radio Marca, Ramon Alvarez de Mon revealed: “As of April 21, Mauricio Pochettino is the leading candidate to become the next Real Madrid coach.”
Mbappé’s Influence on the Decision
This choice may seem surprising from a French perspective, but less so in Spain. “The ideal coach for Real Madrid is Mauricio Pochettino. He is an exceptional candidate because he perfectly understands the Real Madrid mindset. Kylian Mbappé could play a decisive role in the choice of coach. He knows both Didier Deschamps and Pochettino, who are the most serious candidates.”
Having already worked under both men, Mbappé could therefore influence the final decision of the Madrid board, according to Marca. If either Deschamps or Pochettino arrives, the reasons behind the choice will be clear.
