Thiago Motta’s adventure with Juventus is already over — and it’s turning out to be an expensive one for the club.

On Sunday, the Turin-based club officially announced the departure of the Italian coach after just one season. Following a disappointing campaign and a provisional 5th place in Serie A, the decision seemed inevitable.

But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the end of this short tenure comes at a steep financial cost. Juventus will have to pay nearly €20 million gross to terminate Motta’s contract — a hefty sum for a coach who failed to leave a significant mark.
