Thiago Motta’s adventure with Juventus is already over — and it’s turning out to be an expensive one for the club.
On Sunday, the Turin-based club officially announced the departure of the Italian coach after just one season. Following a disappointing campaign and a provisional 5th place in Serie A, the decision seemed inevitable.
But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the end of this short tenure comes at a steep financial cost. Juventus will have to pay nearly €20 million gross to terminate Motta’s contract — a hefty sum for a coach who failed to leave a significant mark.
Igor Tudor takes over
The club has appointed Igor Tudor as interim manager until the end of the season, with an option to extend. Now, Juventus will hope for a fresh start without the financial baggage continuing to weigh them down.
