Lionel Messi’s future remains up in the air. Following Inter Miami’s heavy 3–0 defeat to Orlando City on Sunday, the Argentine superstar declined to clarify his contract situation — with just six months remaining on his current deal.
“No, no… I don’t know”
Visibly frustrated after yet another loss, Messi kept things vague when asked about a potential contract extension. “It’s tough to lose again,” he said. And when pressed on his future with the club? “No, no… I don’t know,” he replied with a smile, before walking away from the press area.
Barcelona lurking in the background?
His teammate Jordi Alba, who recently extended his contract through 2027, is pushing behind the scenes. “Of course I want Leo to stay. He’s essential for us, for the club,” said Alba. But with Messi turning 38 in June, speculation is mounting: could he seek one final challenge elsewhere?
A surprise return to Europe — and perhaps even to Barcelona — is not off the table, especially with the 2026 World Cup looming.
