Barcelona is ready to lock down its brightest gem. According to president Joan Laporta, the club has reached a full agreement to extend Lamine Yamal’s contract. The new deal will be signed when he turns 18 on July 13, with monumental terms.
Having initially declined the No.10 shirt out of respect for his close friend Ansu Fati, Yamal is now set to inherit the legendary number for the 2025-2026 season, becoming the official successor to Lionel Messi.
The New No.10 After Messi
To fend off any interest, Barça will insert a €1 billion release clause—a club and world record. Last summer, PSG reportedly offered €500 million, but Barça turned it down without hesitation. “Yamal has accepted our offer. We just need to wait for his 18th birthday to make it official. We have the financial resources,” Laporta told TV3.
A €1 Billion Release Clause
He also assured that the club is on track to generate nearly €1 billion in revenue this year and remains compliant with La Liga’s financial rules.
Meanwhile, contract extensions for Raphinha and Iñigo Martinez are underway, and reinforcements are expected this summer to back up the domestic treble won this season. Barcelona is building its future—and Lamine Yamal is at the center of it.
