Arsenal has managed to keep William Saliba away from the clutches of Real Madrid. The French central defender has been in the sights of the Spanish giants for months, but it seems loyalty has won the day as he pledges his future to the Gunners.

According to reports from The Athletic and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old international, whose contract was set to run until 2027, has struck a deal to extend his stay in north London until 2030.

Real Madrid Out of the Race: Saliba Commits to Arsenal for the Long Haul

This is a colossal victory for Arsenal, solidifying their defense with one of Europe’s finest. Saliba, who developed his skills at Saint-Étienne and rose to prominence at Marseille, has become a cornerstone of Arsenal’s ambitious project under their current management.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid must now redirect their focus elsewhere in their quest for a new defensive leader. They are reportedly exploring other French talents, with Ibrahima Konaté and Dayot Upamecano on their radar.

The club is determined to leverage Kylian Mbappé’s influence to entice one or even both of these players to join their ranks.
