Olympique de Marseille is seriously considering a move for Aymeric Laporte this summer.
Speaking on Rothen s’enflamme on RMC, OM sporting director Medhi Benatia confirmed the club’s interest in the Al-Nassr defender, revealing that discussions with the player began as early as January.
“He’s a great guy, an experienced player who already wanted to leave back then,” Benatia said. “The deal didn’t happen for economic reasons at the time.”

Now, with Laporte (30) reportedly negotiating an exit from the Saudi club, the Marseille option is back on the table. Still, Benatia remains cautious: “He’s spent two years in Saudi Arabia, which doesn’t have the same tempo as Europe. But he’s still a top player.”
Marseille is actively looking to strengthen its central defense ahead of the Champions League, and Laporte’s profile—left-footed, experienced, and available—fits the bill perfectly. If the financials align, a return to Ligue 1 for the former Manchester City defender could be a major summer move.
