Chelsea are off the mark in the transfer window—and they’re sticking to their youth-driven strategy. The Blues have officially announced the signing of Portuguese midfielder Dario Essugo, who joins from Sporting CP.
The 20-year-old, who spent the past season on loan at Las Palmas, has signed a long-term deal running until 2033, underscoring Chelsea’s continued focus on long-term development.
While the club did not disclose the fee, reports from Portugal suggest the deal is valued at around €22 million. Essugo, already a Portugal U21 international, is seen as one of the brightest young talents in his position.
This move marks another calculated gamble by Chelsea, who have been investing heavily in young players with high potential under their new sporting project.
