FC Barcelona are planning major changes in goal next season—but Marc-André ter Stegen isn’t ready to give up his spot without a fight. The German goalkeeper has sent a firm message amid growing speculation over new arrivals, including Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny.

As Joan Garcia (24), currently with Espanyol, edges closer to a move to Camp Nou, Ter Stegen made his stance clear while on international duty with Germany: he has no intention of stepping aside. The Barça captain, ever the competitor, reaffirmed his loyalty and intent to stay in the starting XI.

“No one has spoken to me about any changes. I know I’ll still be at Barça next season,” he told reporters. “Competition is part of football. As far as I know, we already have two keepers—myself and Iñaki Peña. Whoever joins will have to adapt to that reality.”

His statement wasn’t just aimed at Joan Garcia, but also at club management. Barcelona are reportedly eyeing Wojciech Szczesny as a potential backup—an experienced option who could help ease a possible transition between generations.

Internally, it’s clear the Catalan giants are beginning to plan for life after Ter Stegen. But the 32-year-old isn’t done yet. He remains confident in his abilities and fully intends to fight for his place as Barça’s undisputed No. 1.

With the club eyeing a fresh cycle under Hansi Flick, the goalkeeping battle could become one of the key storylines at Barça heading into next season. One thing is certain: Ter Stegen won’t make it easy for anyone.
