After PSG’s spectacular comeback against Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup (2-2, 4-3 pens), Luis Enrique offered a candid assessment to the press. While the win handed Paris their first trophy of the season, the Spanish coach was quick to point out his team’s lack of rhythm.

“I’m so tired I don’t know if I can even speak French properly…,” he joked, before adding: “Honestly, I don’t think we deserved this trophy. You could see the difference between a team like Tottenham, with six weeks of training, and us, with only six days.”

“Too many bad passes”

“For 80 minutes we tried to play our football, but there were a lot of bad passes. We were lucky to score twice and take it to penalties.”

Luis Enrique nevertheless highlighted the role of the fans: “That’s football, and for us it’s a great moment. I’m very happy for our supporters, who are always there, who never stopped singing and helping the team. Even when we were losing, they stayed with us.”
