The PSG Slams Mbappé, the Clash at Its Peak

The saga between Kylian Mbappé and PSG has reached a new level. In front of the labor court, both sides engaged in a completely disproportionate financial duel: €253 million claimed by Mbappé, €440 million demanded by PSG. An unprecedented confrontation, even for a club accustomed to media storms.

A hearing under high tension“Bad faith” and broken agreements

According to the striker’s defense, the €253 million corresponds to unpaid salaries, bonuses — including a colossal €36.6 million — as well as damages related to the management of his contract. In response, Paris accuses its former star of deceiving the club by promising he would never leave for free.

PSG even brings up a monstrous offer from Saudi Arabia: €300 million in 2023, which Mbappé reportedly refused. A “historic loss” according to Paris, which believes this decision changed the club’s fate.

A hearing under high tension

The hearing on Monday only confirmed the deadlock. No signs of rapprochement; on the contrary, each party presented its claims with legal arguments and millions.

In a particularly aggressive statement, PSG claims to have tried everything for an amicable agreement while accusing Mbappé of choosing permanent confrontation: “The club wishes to remind that it has made every effort, for over a year, to reach an amicable solution to allow all parties to move forward, in accordance with the cooperative and trusting relationship that should exist between a club and its player,” wrote the Parisian management. Several bodies involved in this dispute have indeed encouraged an amicable resolution, which the club has always sought in good faith. Despite these repeated efforts, Mr. Mbappé has continually attacked the club at every opportunity, including through the procedure initiated today — a regrettable situation for the player himself, as well as for French football as a whole,” wrote PSG.

“Bad faith” and broken agreements

Paris now claims to have evidence demonstrating the player’s bad faith. According to the club, Mbappé concealed his intention to leave for nearly a year while breaking an internal agreement that stipulated a salary reduction if he left PSG for free.

The management concludes by contrasting the club’s values with the attitude of its former icon: “PSG continues to defend its rights rigorously. Fundamentally, this is a matter of good faith, honesty, upholding values, and respecting the Parisian institution and its supporters. At the same time, PSG continues on the momentum of the most successful season in its history, based on solidarity, hard work, teamwork, and the primacy of the club over any individual.”

A final tackle that speaks volumes about the now total rift between the two sides. Verdict on December 16. Until then, millions are flying, accusations are piling up… and the tension is at its peak.
