The remarriage between Messi and Neymar is cancelled

As the winter transfer window approached, many imagined Lionel Messi and Neymar reunited one last time in Miami, taking advantage of the retirements of Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. The scenario had all the makings of perfect storytelling: a “last dance” in the spirit of MSN, while Neymar has been struggling physically since leaving AlHilal.

Neymar, a star in MLS? According to Sport, Inter Miami has made its decision. Chris Henderson and the club’s management refuse any signing driven by nostalgia or marketing. The club briefly considered the Neymar option but wants to move in another direction: strengthening a fragile defense and finding a toplevel striker to accompany Messi in 2026.

No MSN in MLS

By closing the door, Inter Miami sends a clear message: the magic of Barça’s MSN era won’t be returning in MLS. Messi will continue his adventure with a team under reconstruction, while Neymar will have to find playing time elsewhere if he wants to save the final stretch of his international career. After having saved Santos? His very recent hattrick probably helped.

The paths of the two former partners will not cross again… for now. And this may have been the last opportunity. The Brazilian international, out of contract next December, has kept his future unclear.

“My future? I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t know. I want to finish this season first, finish the Brazilian championship, and then I’ll think about it. My priority remains Santos,” the former PSG player said on Amazon Prime.
