Dayot Upamecano has cast doubt over his future in an interview with Téléfoot. The Bayern Munich defender does not rule out the idea of playing for the same club one day as Ousmane Dembélé, who currently wears the colors of PSG.
On the eve of a pivotal moment in his career, the France international is keeping everyone guessing. An undisputed leader of Bayern’s defense, Upamecano is approaching the end of his contract next summer, just a few months before the World Cup.
Contract uncertainty and growing interest
A situation that is inevitably fueling interest. PSG and Real Madrid are said to be monitoring the case closely, while Bayern Munich are working behind the scenes to convince their defender to extend his deal.
Asked about a potential partnership with his childhood friend Ousmane Dembélé, who is also from Évreux, Upamecano carefully maintained the ambiguity: “Why not… but there’s no rush,” he said with a smile, before adding without closing any doors, “If I can stay at Bayern and extend? Of course.”
