Could Olympique Lyonnais strike another big move in the transfer market? Little used this season at Manchester United, Manuel Ugarte could be on the move during the upcoming summer window. The 24-year-old Uruguayan midfielder, limited to 12 Premier League appearances, is already attracting interest — including from OL.
According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Galatasaray have positioned themselves for the former PSG player. But Lyon are also closely monitoring the situation. After pulling off the Endrick deal on loan from Real Madrid, the Rhône club is reportedly considering a similar move for Ugarte to strengthen their midfield.
Lyon eye another ambitious move
The operation, however, looks complex. Galatasaray are said to be ready to include a purchase option estimated at €25 million, a figure that would be difficult for Lyon’s finances. Still, OL’s management hopes to convince Manchester United with a more flexible formula, banking on playing time and a sporting revival.
Having already pulled off a surprise with the arrival of Endrick, Lyon want to believe in another unexpected scenario. Short of continuity at Manchester, Ugarte could be tempted by a central role in an ambitious project. The question remains whether OL can once again defy expectations.
