It is the end of an era. FIFA has officially announced the discontinuation of The Best awards, which will no longer be presented from 2026 onward. The world football governing body is now partnering with Dubai to launch a new awards ceremony, in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, already involved in the Globe Soccer Awards. A symbolic decision that definitively closes the chapter on a once-iconic format.

Ironically, this announcement comes just after an edition completely dominated by Paris Saint-Germain. The Parisian club swept the awards in what will remain a historic final chapter for The Best.

PSG also overwhelmed the Team of the Year selection, placing six players among the eleven: Donnarumma, Hakimi, Pacho, Mendes, Vitinha, and Dembélé. A display of dominance rarely seen at this level.

The 2025 XI was completed by Van Dijk, Palmer, Bellingham, Pedri, and Yamal, marking a final edition where PSG exited The Best as kings, just as FIFA prepares to usher in a new era of global football.
