Dro to PSG, It Could Fall Through!

The Dro Fernandez case is far from as simple as it seems. While the Spanish midfielder looked destined for PSG, some people close to the deal no longer rule out the possibility that the transfer could fail.

This Dro saga seemed easy and straightforward… but it isn’t. The file is even starting to recall a well-known precedent: Ousmane Dembélé in 2023, whose move took several weeks to materialize despite a situation that initially looked clear.

Why the Deal Is Dragging On Despite the Release Clause

Behind the scenes, however, all sources keep saying that Dro will eventually sign in Paris. The player himself is currently training on his own, a sign that his future at Barça is already largely sealed. According to RMC Sport and Diario Sport, talks between PSG and FC Barcelona are set to continue all week to reach a final agreement on the terms of the transfer, especially regarding the payment of the release clause.

So why is it taking so long when he has a €6 million clause? According to Marca, Paris and Barcelona do not want to trigger the clause outright. The two clubs have reportedly entered negotiations to complete a deal for a slightly higher amount, possibly close to €10 million.

The operation would suit everyone: Barcelona would receive more than the €6 million clause, and PSG would make significant tax savings by going through a negotiated transfer rather than activating the clause directly. In short: Dro wants Paris, Paris wants Dro, but the two clubs are still haggling over the structure of the deal. And as long as nothing is signed, the saga remains open.
