After OM’s heavy 3-0 defeat to Liverpool, Roberto De Zerbi was extremely critical of his players in the post-match press conference. The Marseille coach pointed to his team’s mindset and the poor performances of some individuals, saying they played badly and conceded a silly opening goal.
He felt the first half was relatively even but that his side failed to understand where the danger was coming from, especially around Pavard, which led to unnecessary turnovers and missed opportunities to play out from the back.
De Zerbi Calls for Consistency and Better Understanding
De Zerbi insisted his team could have done better, but lamented their inability to repeat strong performances over several matches, explaining that attitude alone is not enough against a team like Liverpool and that his players must better understand the game.
He concluded by saying that pressure is constant in Marseille and that the real issue is playing well and being consistent, adding that his team will not go elsewhere to settle for a draw, because if you do not want pressure, you should not come to Marseille.
