A blow for Ethan Mbappé. The French midfielder is no longer on LOSC’s UEFA list for the rest of the European campaign, a forced decision linked to the return from injury of Alexsandro.
It was L’Equipe that revealed the news: Ethan Mbappé will not continue in European competition with Lille this season, paying the price for Alexsandro’s comeback. Absent in recent weeks, the Brazilian defender has been officially reinstated by the club.
Defense Takes Priority
UEFA regulations impose a limited number of registered players. Lille therefore had to make a choice, and unfortunately it is Ethan Mbappé who bears the consequences.
The young player had hoped to gradually establish himself in Lille’s rotation and continue his development at the highest level, especially on the European stage. This administrative omission does not, however, call his place in the club’s project into question, but it does temporarily slow his continental ambitions.
LOSC will now have to move forward with a slightly reshaped squad for the rest of the competition, hoping that this sporting and regulatory decision will make it possible to approach the upcoming fixtures with greater defensive stability.
