PSG in Serious Danger in the Champions League

PSG have burned a joker but remain in control of their destiny. Beaten at Sporting (2-1), Paris endured a rough European week, like most French clubs. But unlike Monaco, thrashed by Real Madrid (6-1), and Marseille, swept aside by Liverpool (3-0), the capital club are still in a strong position: they remain in the top eight, which means direct qualification for the round of 16. And that changes everything.

Thanks to an excellent goal difference, PSG hold a precious advantage. But beware, nothing has been sealed yet. The standings are extremely tight and the final matchday against Newcastle looks like a real trap game. The objective is clear: avoid the playoffs and spare themselves two knockout matches in February.

Even a draw could be enough, provided some of the teams behind them fail to take maximum points. On the other hand, any slip-up would put PSG in serious danger and could see several teams overtake them.

The message is simple: Paris still have all the cards in hand, but they can no longer afford to waver. While Monaco and Marseille are virtually playing for their European survival, PSG must live up to their status, finish the job, and secure direct qualification. Avoiding the playoffs is almost an obligation for a club that aims higher than the rest.
