FC Barcelona has decided to tighten the screws: every delay is punished with a fine, as several players from the club have revealed. And these are no small fines.
Barça is no longer joking about lateness. Appearing on the Spanish show El Hormiguero, Pedri and Ferran Torres detailed the internal rules introduced by their coach. “Flick is strict in the dressing room when it comes to schedules,” they explained. The scale of penalties is meant to deter: “The fine for being 10 minutes late is €40,000.”

And what about twenty minutes? “You’d better say you were sick or something like that,” Pedri joked.
The severity is fully embraced. “Arriving late on match day means you’re not focused,” the two internationals justified. For now, the method appears to be working: no player has reportedly had to pay such a fine since the system was introduced. Leaders of La Liga and still competing in both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, Barça is showing renewed discipline. In Barcelona, punctuality is no longer a minor detail.
