The end of the road has reportedly been announced for Benjamin Pavard at Olympique de Marseille. Arriving last summer on loan from Inter Milan, the French defender is not expected to stay long on the Canebière.
OM and Pavard—it’s (already) over. A purchase option set at €15 million? Too expensive for performances deemed insufficient. In 18 Ligue 1 appearances, Pavard never truly convinced. Too neutral, not decisive enough. The verdict is almost sealed: OM will not activate the option. Habib Beye does not appear to be counting on the player.
Uncertain Future as Bundesliga Return Looms
The result? A return to Milan… but perhaps not for long.
Behind the scenes, things are moving quickly. According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund are already monitoring the situation. A return to the Bundesliga could be appealing. Pavard knows German football well from his spells at Bayern Munich and Stuttgart—a familiar environment to reignite a stalling career.
There is one obstacle: his contract with Inter runs until 2028. Dortmund will need to flex their financial muscle to get the deal done. One thing is certain: in Marseille, the story already seems to be over.
