Substituted at halftime against the France national football team, Raphinha is suffering from a muscle injury confirmed by the Brazilian Football Confederation. The FC Barcelona winger has been ruled out and is returning to Catalonia.
The injury to Raphinha has now been confirmed. Doubts did not last long. Hurt during Brazil’s defeat to France (1-2), Raphinha has indeed sustained a muscle lesion. The Brazilian federation officially announced the news following medical examinations carried out on Friday, confirming damage to the back of his right leg.
Barcelona Faces Growing Injury Concerns
This injury immediately forces the player to leave the squad. As a direct consequence, Raphinha will not play in the upcoming match against Croatia.
Head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed his withdrawal, as well as that of Wesley, who is also injured. The winger will now return to Barcelona to begin his treatment protocol with his club.
“Raphinha and Wesley were ruled out this Friday by head coach Carlo Ancelotti. Both experienced pain in the back of their right leg during the match against France. This Friday, the players underwent imaging tests that confirmed muscle injuries. The players are authorized to undergo treatment,” the Brazilian Football Confederation stated on its website. While the exact severity of the injury has not yet been specified, the situation is naturally causing concern for FC Barcelona. Awaiting further tests in Catalonia, the club’s medical staff is holding its breath, as the timing could not be worse during a decisive period of the season.
