OM: Is Habib Beye Already Under Threat?

Habib Beye is already under pressure in Marseille. Recently appointed as head coach of Olympique de Marseille, the 48-year-old manager is facing growing criticism following a new defeat against AS Monaco (2-1).

Arriving unexpectedly just a few weeks ago, could Habib Beye already be forced to step down? Despite confident statements in press conferences, the former Rennes coach is struggling to convince at OM. Defeated for the third time in seven matches, Beye’s record is already worrying—something not seen in Marseille since the era of Jean Fernandez in 2005. On social media, his comments, sometimes perceived as out of touch, are not going down well with supporters.

Growing Pressure After Another Setback

Against Monaco, OM showed intent but were punished for their mistakes, notably on a goal scored by Folarin Balogun. Despite a response from Amine Gouiri, Marseille lacked the efficiency needed to come back into the game.

After the match, Beye tried to downplay the situation: “We had opportunities… but luck is not on our side.” A statement that contrasts with the urgency of the situation, as OM are slipping dangerously in the race for the Champions League spots.

Now sitting fourth, the club has been overtaken by LOSC Lille, while Monaco has caught up. Olympique Lyonnais and Stade Rennais are also close behind. Despite everything, Habib Beye refuses to panic: “We are hunters. Six matches remain, it’s up to us to secure that podium finish.” But in Marseille, time could quickly run out if results do not improve.
