The crisis continues to worsen for the Girondins de Bordeaux. According to Sud Ouest, FIFA has placed the club on the list of teams banned from recruiting for the next three transfer windows.
Bordeaux are going through a difficult period. The club has been banned from signing players for three transfer windows following a heavy sanction from FIFA. This blow is linked to a dispute with Sporting Gijón over the transfer of Pedro Diaz in 2023. The Spanish club is claiming around €1.5 million.
Legal Dispute at the Heart of the Sanction
On the Bordeaux side, the decision is not going down well. The club’s lawyer, Matthieu Barandas, strongly opposes it, arguing that FIFA’s legal analysis contradicts national provisions regarding collective proceedings.

He also highlights the existing legal framework, explaining that the transfer fees in question were already included in a continuation plan approved by the commercial court, which allows the club not to pay the full amounts owed.
To try to have the sanction lifted, Bordeaux will initiate two procedures: an appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport and legal action before national courts. Despite the pressure, the club remains relatively confident and believes it is in the right legally, although the ban is already weighing heavily on its sporting future.
