A major shift is on the horizon: Nike is in exclusive negotiations with UEFA to become the official ball supplier for all its club competitions.
After more than 20 years of playing with Adidas balls, players competing in the Champions League could soon be using Nike equipment. The American brand is in talks to take over production of the iconic ball. The Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League are all directly affected by this potential change.
A Strategic Shift in European Football Competitions
If the agreement is finalized for the 2027–2031 period, Nike would end more than 25 years of Adidas dominance, as the German brand has been the official supplier since 2001.
The negotiations are being led by UC3, the joint commercial entity of UEFA and the ECA, highlighting the strategic importance of this deal. According to the Financial Times, the contract could be worth over €40 million per year—nearly double the current agreement.
This change would go beyond a simple commercial deal: it could mark the end of a symbol of European nights, representing a true turning point in the history of UEFA competitions.
