FC Nantes experienced a nightmare evening this Sunday at La Beaujoire. After supporters from the Brigade Loire invaded the pitch, the match against Toulouse was permanently abandoned. Deeply shaken, Vahid Halilhodžić tried to calm the situation before breaking down in tears as he headed back to the dressing room.
A terrible end to the season for FC Nantes. Relegated to Ligue 2, the Canaries saw their final Ligue 1 match against Toulouse interrupted after several Nantes supporters stormed the field before the half-hour mark.
Emotional Scenes at La Beaujoire
Furious and devastated, Vahid Halilhodžić attempted to speak with some ultras on the pitch despite security intervention. But tensions quickly escalated, and authorities ultimately decided to stop the match for good.
As he left the field, the 74-year-old Bosnian coach burst into tears in the corridors of La Beaujoire. Deeply attached to the Nantes club, “Coach Vahid” appeared completely crushed by a night also marked by clashes between supporters and police forces.

Even before kickoff, supporters were already expressing strong anger toward Waldemar Kita and his son Franck Kita. FC Nantes could now face heavy disciplinary sanctions following the definitive abandonment of the match, even though the result no longer had any impact on the standings.
