Antoine Griezmann experienced a deeply emotional evening after the draw between Atlético Madrid and Girona (1-1). In front of the Colchoneros supporters, the French striker delivered a powerful message to the Madrid crowd.

Grizou’s major mea culpa came during his farewell speech. Antoine Griezmann reflected on his move to FC Barcelona in 2019, a decision that had deeply hurt part of the Atlético fanbase.

Griezmann leaves Atlético Madrid as a true club legend. Signed by FC Barcelona for €120 million after the activation of his release clause, the Frenchman never fully managed to establish himself in Catalonia despite scoring 35 goals in 102 matches. His departure had also sparked controversy because of his documentary “The Decision,” a video that Atlético fans never forgave.

Back at Atlético Madrid first on loan in 2021 before returning permanently in 2022, Griezmann ultimately made history with the club by playing more than 500 matches and winning several trophies, including the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.
