Michael Olise has gone viral in recent hours after being spotted in a France team video… wearing slippers. But in reality, this is nothing new. Here is the explanation.
Michael Olise is a different kind of player. The world is gradually discovering it. He even surprises people with his rituals. Before every match, the France winger inspects the pitch in slippers or sandals to assess the surface before putting on his boots.
Olise’s Unusual Pre-Match Ritual
It is a habit that amuses the dressing room, but it also reflects his free, calm and completely relaxed personality. He then chooses the pair of boots he will wear. Since he has no boot sponsor, he can change brand, model and colour whenever he wants. His boots are always matched with his outfit.
On the pitch, the Bayern Munich player is mainly confirming his huge rise in form. Named the best Bundesliga player in 2025-2026 and scorer of a hat-trick for France against Northern Ireland on June 8, Olise has quickly established himself as a key figure in the French national team.
🇫🇷😎 Michael Olise débarque à l’entraînement… en pantoufles.
Le mec est tellement détendu qu’on dirait qu’il vient chercher son café, pas préparer un match de Coupe du Monde. 😂
RIEN ne peut troubler l'homme au QI de 127, il n'en a RIEN à faire 😎😎😎
Allez-vous porter les…

Since making his debut in September 2024, he has already earned 21 caps and is thriving in France’s attack alongside Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and Bradley Barcola. His technique, versatility and low-key personality have helped him settle into a squad packed with stars. After a strong start to the World Cup, especially the 3-0 win over Sweden, Olise will once again be closely watched in the round of 16 against Paraguay. Slippers before the match, magic during it: his ritual may raise smiles, but his influence with France is becoming very serious, even if it remains quiet.
