Michael Olise continues to impress everyone within the France national team. Before the start of the 2026 World Cup, Kylian Mbappé openly praised his teammate, describing him as a “player of today and tomorrow.”
Speaking to L’Équipe, Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise reacted with great humility. “It’s a huge compliment,” Olise admitted, while refusing to see himself as the future leader of Les Bleus just yet.
Olise Remains Grounded Despite Rising Expectations
“For now, I’m a player of the present. If I keep working hard and stay grounded, then I hope to become a player of the future,” the former Crystal Palace star explained in an interview with L’Équipe.
Outstanding for Bayern Munich and already highly influential with France, Olise continues to impress with his maturity despite being only 24 years old. His strong start to the World Cup has only reinforced the expectations surrounding him.
In the same interview, the French international also revealed his preferred position. Although he often plays on the right wing, he believes he performs best in a central role: “The number 10 position feels more natural to me.” He successfully occupied that role against Senegal in France’s 3-1 victory, making a decisive impact during the second half.
