Gianni Infantino has once again become a talking point during the 2026 World Cup. This time, the FIFA president was seemingly spotted in two different stadiums at the exact same moment, sparking plenty of jokes from fans on social media.

On Thursday evening, television cameras showed him in the stands at MetLife Stadium near New York during Ecuador’s 2-1 victory over Germany. At the very same time, he also appeared on screen at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia for Côte d’Ivoire’s 2-0 win over Curaçao.

However, the incident is unlikely to improve his public image. Since the start of the tournament, Infantino has faced repeated criticism over his frequent flights between World Cup venues, with many arguing that such travel contradicts FIFA’s public commitments to reducing its carbon footprint.
