Raphinha is reportedly going through a particularly difficult period, both on and off the pitch. According to several Brazilian media outlets, the FC Barcelona winger is facing serious financial difficulties after discovering that his father allegedly took control of a large share of his income since the start of his career.

Raphinha ruined by his father? An incredible case is shaking Brazil. Brazilian journalist Léo Dias claims the player and his wife realized the extent of the situation while trying to buy a luxury villa in Barcelona.

A Family Affair Shaking Brazilian Football

They reportedly discovered that the available funds were far lower than they believed. Further investigations allegedly revealed that many contracts linked to salaries and image rights had benefited the Brazilian international’s father, who is said to have received up to 80% of the player’s income.

These reports could also explain the recent comments made by former Brazil international Vampeta. Earlier this week, he claimed that Raphinha was dealing with “serious family and financial problems” and hoped to join Al-Hilal in order to improve his personal situation.

At this stage, however, none of this information has been confirmed by Raphinha or his entourage. Natália Belloli, Raphinha’s wife, even denied Vampeta’s claims on a podcast in Brazil: “Honestly, I find it absurd to have to talk about my financial situation. If we earned only 10% of what Raphinha earns today, we would still be very blessed. I see no reason to expose that on social media because I am fully aware of the social reality we live in. If I made a post saying, ‘Look, I’m not poor, I’m still rich,’ people would accuse me of lacking class. I thought the story would fade away, but these rumors have already reached Spain and now everyone believes we are in financial trouble.” Indeed, there is no need to panic for Raphinha, who earns… 12 million euros per year. One small month’s salary, and everything looks better. Still, Léo Dias’ revelations have sparked a major controversy in Brazil, where this alleged family affair is already causing a huge reaction.
