Even Lionel Messi is not exempt from security checks. When the Argentina delegation arrived in Miami, the Albiceleste star had to go through a metal detector, just like the other players taking part in the World Cup.
This World Cup still has its share of surprises: even Lionel Messi has to pass through a metal detector. It is, of course, a fairly rare scene to see when it involves the greatest player in history. But the funniest part was Messi’s reaction, as he handled the situation with a smile, clearly amused by the unusual moment.

Argentina knows Miami well during this World Cup. The Albiceleste played their opening match there before heading to Texas and then Kansas City. They are now set to return to Florida on Saturday for their round-of-32 match against Cape Verde.

The clip quickly amused supporters, especially because of the Argentine’s laughing face. Far from getting annoyed, Messi simply smiled, as if he himself was discovering the absurdity of the scene. A light-hearted but symbolic image: at this World Cup, nobody gets a free pass. Not even Lionel Messi.
