It’s no secret anymore: Real Madrid want to bring in a new centre-back this summer. And two French names keep coming up—William Saliba from Arsenal and Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool.
The Spanish giants are considering strengthening their already very French-flavored squad, which includes Mendy, Tchouaméni, Camavinga, and now Mbappé. Saliba is under contract with Arsenal until 2027, while Konaté’s deal at Liverpool runs through 2026.
Saliba and Konaté open to a move
According to Marca, Saliba is keen to join Los Blancos and would even accept a lower salary to make the move happen. Real Madrid are also preparing an offer for Konaté, who is said to be interested in the project. However, Liverpool won’t let him go easily—or risk losing him for free next year.
The club is urgently looking for reinforcements at the back after Nacho’s departure. With Rüdiger and Militão still in place, Real want to bring in a strong new partner. But whoever they choose, it won’t come cheap.
