After last summer’s rejection, FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta is now ready to give Nico Williams another shot.
According to Mundo Deportivo, a recent meeting between the Athletic Bilbao winger’s agent and Barça sporting director Deco has reignited the Catalan club’s interest. This proactive move reportedly convinced Laporta to relaunch talks for the 22-year-old.
A €58M Clause That Changes Everything
Unlike Liverpool’s Luis Díaz—still blocked by his club—Nico Williams has a €58 million release clause. No need to negotiate with Bilbao. Add to that his youth, strong connection with Lamine Yamal, and growing support in the dressing room, and the fit seems ideal.
Bayern Munich and Arsenal remain in the race, but Barcelona are now seen as favorites—with a green light from the very top.
