Nico Williams is back on FC Barcelona’s radar. While the Bayern Munich move looked close, the 22-year-old Spanish winger might be heading to Catalonia instead.
According to Sport, Barça sporting director Deco met with Williams’ agent, Felix Tainta, on Friday to explore a transfer. The meeting reportedly came at the player’s request — his entourage having cooled on overseas offers due to wage concerns.
A La Liga fan and close to many Barça players, Williams would welcome the move. As a subtle tease, Lamine Yamal even posted a picture with Nico — taken during the Euros — just hours after the meeting. Coincidence?
The clause: €62M too steep?
Barcelona’s financial woes are still real. Nico’s release clause sits at €62 million, and while Luis Díaz remains the club’s top target, his price tag is even higher. Williams might be more than a Plan B — he’s a real alternative.
Even better? He’s reportedly willing to drop his wage demands. After asking for €20M/year from Bayern, he’s said to be open to €12M/year to join Barça.
The transfer is far from done, but the signs are clear: Nico wants Barça, and the feeling might be mutual.
