Botafogo: Renato Paiva is already out following the club’s elimination from the Club World Cup. Yes, John Textor has now sacked his 10th manager… at just this one club.
The stint was short-lived. Appointed on February 27, Paiva was shown the door this Sunday evening, just hours after Botafogo’s extra-time defeat to Palmeiras in the Round of 16. The club made it official with a statement Monday morning.
“Renato Paiva is no longer head coach of the first team. The decision was communicated to him Sunday night. The club thanks Paiva and his staff for their services over the past few months, notably the victory…” the club wrote.
John Textor out of Lyon, all-in on Botafogo and Molenbeek
Following his departure from OL, Textor is now focusing his energy on Botafogo and Molenbeek. According to the club, the priority is clear: win the Copa Libertadores, compete in the Brazilian league, and chase a historic Copa do Brasil title.
Another coach out the door, and another search begins in Rio. But the real question is: How long will the next one last?
