Despite scoring a brace in Marseille’s 4–2 win over Rennes on Saturday, Mason Greenwood ends the Ligue 1 season as the second-highest scorer, edged out by Ousmane Dembélé—on goals from open play.
“No Disappointment,” Says Greenwood
The Manchester United loanee, who tallied 21 goals in 34 games, could have claimed the top scorer title but missed a first-half penalty. Late in the game, Adrien Rabiot opted to score himself rather than set up Greenwood for a potential 22nd goal.
Still, Greenwood showed no frustration: “No, it’s not a disappointment. I’m mostly happy for Rabiot—he scored a great goal and reached 10 this season. He’s been important for us. I don’t blame him at all, he had a great match,” Greenwood added.
