What if Pierre-Emile Højbjerg were to leave OM as early as the winter transfer window? The idea is circulating in Italy, even if the scenario remains highly hypothetical. Roberto De Zerbi would not completely shut the door on a departure… provided a top-level replacement arrives. And Juventus believe they have the argument to shake Marseille.
The Bianconeri are once again pushing for the Danish midfielder, presented as a priority for the Turin club in January. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Luciano Spalletti is strongly lobbying internally to attract Højbjerg, a pillar of Marseille’s midfield.
Juventus Push for a Midfield Swap
Behind the scenes, Damien Comolli is said to be preparing an ambitious deal. The idea is to include Manuel Locatelli, a player highly regarded by Roberto De Zerbi, in the discussions in order to make the operation acceptable to OM. On paper, a swap could appeal to the Italian coach.
But in Marseille, the message is firm. Still according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mehdi Benatia has clearly cooled Juventus’ interest.
“Pierre is very important for us, he’s a complete midfielder. I knew him at Bayern, I brought him to Marseille and I’m very satisfied with what he’s doing. He won’t move,” said the club’s director of football. Under contract until June 2028, Højbjerg is considered a cornerstone of the Marseille project.
At this stage, despite Italian persistence, the chances of the Dane leaving OM in January remain very slim. But in an often unpredictable winter transfer window, the situation is one to watch closely.
