Halfway through the league phase, PSG’s 1–2 loss to Bayern is far from a disaster. Paris sits 5th in the standings, a huge improvement from the disastrous 25th place they held at the same stage last season. Bayern, Arsenal and Inter are flying with a perfect record, but PSG remain firmly in the direct-qualification zone.
Paris were leaders before losing to Bayern, but the drop is minimal. Behind Manchester City (4th), PSG stay inside a very tight Top 8 completed by Newcastle, Real Madrid and Liverpool — all on 9 points.
Monaco in the mix, Marseille in deep trouble
Behind the Top 8 lies a massive traffic jam: the giant mid-table pack fighting for the 16 playoff spots. Monaco (19th), Chelsea, Dortmund and Atlético are all stuck there — along with surprises like Qarabag and Paphos. Nothing is settled yet.
But for OM, it’s panic mode already. Marseille are 25th, the first elimination spot. Three losses in four matches, and an early Champions League exit is suddenly very real.
Juventus, Villarreal and Bilbao sinking
Other big names drowning near the bottom: Juventus (26th), Villarreal (32nd) and Athletic Bilbao (27th). And Benfica and Ajax? Even worse: zero points so far.
The numbers don’t lie
- Last season, 16 points were needed for direct qualification
- 11 points for the playoffs
Nothing is over… but a clear picture is emerging: Bayern dominate, PSG stay alive, OM are shaking.
