Presnel Kimpembe has clearly not forgotten Kylian Mbappé. Speaking to RTL, the former PSG defender aimed a sharp dig at the French superstar following Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League triumph.
The two were teammates at both PSG and with the French national team. But it seems “Presko” has not completely forgiven “Kyky.” The former Paris defender believes Mbappé made the wrong decision by leaving PSG in 2023.
Kimpembe Takes Aim at Mbappé
“Joining Real Madrid? That was his choice. He should have stayed if he wanted to win it,” Kimpembe said before doubling down. “His childhood dream was Real Madrid. My dream was to win the Champions League with PSG. Today, I’ve done it. Obviously, I’d rather be in my position than his.”
The comments are certain to spark debate, especially considering that Mbappé left Paris for Real Madrid just before PSG secured the first Champions League title in the club’s history.
Despite moving to Doha SC and enduring an injury-hit season with only three appearances in 2026, Kimpembe refuses to discuss retirement. At 30 years old, the 2018 World Cup winner still believes he can return to the highest level. “Thirty isn’t old. I plan to play until I’m 40,” he insisted, while also leaving the door open to a surprise return to the French national team in the years ahead.
