Signed from LOSC Lille for €55 million, Lucas Chevalier is experiencing a difficult start at Paris Saint-Germain. Benched since January behind Matvey Safonov, the French goalkeeper is unwilling to settle into a long-term number two role.
A departure? Not so simple. Internally, PSG remains completely calm and has no intention of letting its goalkeeper go. According to L’Équipe, the club and coach Luis Enrique still see him as part of their long-term plans.
PSG maintains confidence in Chevalier’s future
Despite the player’s frustration, the message is clear: Chevalier is part of the project. With several years remaining on his contract, he is only at the beginning of his Paris journey, and his potential is not being questioned at all.
For PSG, there is no debate. This situation is viewed as a period of adaptation rather than a failure. The club believes in him and firmly rejects any idea of a rushed departure.
The remaining question is whether Chevalier will accept this role over time, or if the competition with Safonov will reshuffle the hierarchy next season.
