After his brilliant brace in PSG’s 4–0 demolition of Real Madrid, Fabian Ruiz has emerged as a serious contender for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

En résumé
“If I’m nominated, I’ll be happy”“Dembélé deserves it more than me”

The Spanish midfielder, a key figure in Paris Saint-Germain’s dream season, remains modest—but he’s no longer hiding his ambition. “I’m living one of the best moments of my career, if not the best,” he told Spanish media. “We’ve had an incredible season. Just one match left to make it perfect.”

With four titles already, a Nations League final appearance for Spain, and the Club World Cup final against Chelsea this Sunday, Ruiz is quietly building a strong case for individual glory.

“If I’m nominated, I’ll be happy”

Asked about the Ballon d’Or and potentially succeeding his compatriot Rodri, Ruiz was cautious: “The Ballon d’Or doesn’t depend on me. I just try to do my best. There are many great players in Europe… If I’m nominated, I’ll be thrilled—but it’s not something I focus on. Right now, my goal is Sunday’s final.”

“Dembélé deserves it more than me”

Ruiz also backed his teammate Ousmane Dembélé, who starred against Madrid with a goal, assist, and relentless pressing. “‘Ous’ gave everything—not just his goal and assist, but also his incredible defensive work. Two of our goals came directly from his pressing. He fully deserves to be in the Ballon d’Or conversation.”

The final chapter of this historic season? PSG vs Chelsea, Sunday at 9 p.m. One more trophy—and maybe a golden invitation to football’s biggest individual honor.
