End of an era in Madrid. After twelve magical seasons at the heart of Real Madrid’s midfield, Luka Modric has played his final game in the white jersey — a tough 0-4 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semifinal.
A painful exit, but one that won’t tarnish the legacy of the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner.
Speaking in the post-match press conference, Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso paid an emotional tribute to his former teammate:
“It’s not the ending I wanted for him, it’s a bit of a bitter farewell. He’s a legend of world football, of Real Madrid. We had the pleasure and the honor of sharing the pitch with him. People will remember him for much more than the 25 minutes of this match.”
Modric’s Next Dance: Milan
One chapter closes, another begins. While his story at Madrid has ended, Modric isn’t hanging up his boots just yet — the Croatian maestro is now set for a final challenge with AC Milan.
