Achraf Hakimi, a key player for Paris Saint-Germain, recently shared insights into his friendship with teammate Kylian Mbappé during an appearance on Canal+’s Clique.
Arriving at PSG in 2021, Hakimi revealed that their connection was instant, thanks to mutual language skills—Hakimi spoke little French while Mbappé knew some Spanish. This language barrier quickly turned into a strong friendship.
Their bond extends beyond the pitch. Hakimi emphasized, “He supported me when I needed it, and I did the same for him. Our friendship is real and we communicate openly. If there’s an issue, we talk it out. It’s genuine and will continue to grow.” The duo’s camaraderie is a vital aspect of the PSG locker room.
However, when it came to selecting his dream team, Hakimi made a surprising choice by leaving Mbappé off the list. Instead, he included legends Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Ronaldo Nazário.
Strong Friendship Despite Mbappé’s Absence
When prompted about Mbappé’s absence, he joked, “He’s on the bench but will be the first sub. He’s a phenomenal player and will earn his spot in my ideal lineup once he wins the Ballon d’Or, just like Messi and the others.”
Despite Mbappé’s omission from his dream team, Hakimi’s respect for him is clear. Their friendship remains solid, even amidst speculation about Mbappé’s future with the club. Hakimi’s contributions continue to make him an invaluable asset for PSG, showcasing his loyalty and talent.
Hakimi also expressed gratitude towards Zinedine Zidane, who played a pivotal role in his career. “Zidane trusted me when I was with the Castilla reserve team. He invited me to the first team and gave me my chance to play professionally. I learned so much from him about player relationships and communication, treating us like family. I will always be thankful for that opportunity.”
