Qualified, but far from reassuring. Held to a 2-2 draw by Monaco at the Parc des Princes, PSG secured their ticket to the round of 16… without dispelling the doubts surrounding their defense. And according to L’Equipe, one PSG defender has shown signs of frustration in recent days.
Despite the qualification, the performance delivered by Luis Enrique’s men is causing concern. Nervous, often poorly positioned and late in challenges, the Parisian back line is confirming the struggles seen at the start of the season. Marquinhos and Pacho are struggling to regain their solidity, while their backups are failing to seize the opportunity to shake up the hierarchy.
Tensions Rising Within PSG’s Defense
A symbol of this growing tension, Lucas Beraldo reportedly clashed in training with a young striker from the club’s academy.
“At the moment, Lucas Beraldo prefers to ‘clash’ with a young academy forward in training rather than show he can be a credible candidate for the position,” L’Equipe wrote. The sports daily, however, did not reveal the name of the young player. The episode reflects the pressure weighing on the defender, who, two years after his €20 million move, has yet to prove he can establish himself as a reliable starter.
